YUM and YES is my ready response when anyone asks if I want to join them for lunch (or dinner or Sunday brunch) at Winston’s Grille on Falls of Neuse Road!
Winston’s Grille was founded in 1986 and has been serving Raleigh delicious dishes ever since! As one of my favorite Raleigh local spots to eat, I especially love the original art decorating the walls throughout the restaurant; the outside covered balcony; the diner mugs in which they serve their good, hot coffee, and the little round rolls with butter – and I haven’t even really mentioned their menu yet!
Some of their most popular dishes include the crab dip appetizer, the black and bleu salad for lunch, the prime rib for dinner, and the oh my goodness don’t get stuffed on dinner so you can enjoy the chocolate souffle for dessert! (Click here to go straight to the menu and to call to make a reservation!!)
I especially enjoy the shrimp and grits, which I am particular about since I’ve experienced ‘the broth of the gods’ at another one of my favorite restaurants and since Tyler and I have traveled to Charleston, which is extra-famous for the best shrimp and grits! Winston’s grits are creamy, the sauce is flavorful and smooth, and the shrimp, fresh and well cooked (not chewy!). The truth is, you really cannot go wrong ordering anything from Winston’s finely tuned menu of good eats.
The atmosphere of Winston’s expressly details the attitude of Raleigh. Winston’s is marked with an understated elegance, full of perfectly placed original art, heavy molding, and copper pots drawing your eye into the partially opened kitchen but held back with a comfortable ease that makes you feel instantly at home.
Slip into the corner booth; pull out the wrought iron chair dressed with plush cushions on the balcony and order the chocolate souffle for me!
