Alright! On your mark – Get set – GO! We are here in 2012 and it’s time to articulate our purpose, make our plan, prioritize and prepare for how we want to fulfill our purpose and accomplish our plan so we can praise the LORD at the end of the year.
Let me draw this all out for you.
First, a book that speaks into this whole matter much more thoroughly then my next few blog posts will is Ordering Your Private World by George MacDonald. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone breathing. That definitely means you.
So let’s start at the beginning. It’s a very good place to start, Julie Andrews in Sound of Music will sing to us. And it’s true. We must start with where we are, who we are with, what we’ve got, and what we know. We don’t always have to end up in the same, but we must start right at the beginning.
And “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” And we know from Genesis 1 that the Lord created man and woman. And we can know – only the fool objects otherwise – that the Lord Himself made us. And throughout the pages of Scripture, we learn that we are made for the Lord’s glory, to reflect His character, to know Him as our all in all, and to love Him with our all, love others as ourself, and enjoy all that the Lord of life has to offer us. We are to fear Him and follow in His ways, listening and obeying as we go. It’s the perfect path of peace, prosperity, of pleasant blessing, and eternal purpose. We find our all in all in Him, who is our all in all.
So this is our purpose – to surrender ourselves, our silly notions and selfish, sideways ways and to stand up in Him who created us from the beginning, who saved us in Christ by grace through faith to accomplish the work He created beforehand for us to accomplish (Ephesians 2).
