in the middle of it

“For the love of Christ controls us”

2 Corinthians 5:14

Tyler has been gone all summer. It’s an exaggeration and it’s true; well, ok, it feels like it.  And every time he leaves I tell him he has a goal to come home. alive.

Yesterday, he texted me to let me know he had to get ready for a new song added to the set list, so he would call later. I replied, ‘all for the glory of God – go get ’em, babe’

And the precious Holy Spirit, my Comfort, Guide, Encourager, and Friend brought to my mind that

… Truly, if Tyler and I do not do to the best of our ability in His grace all that the Lord has called us to do and that is in front of us, then what are we doing!? We are laboring in vain – and apart from each other! Which on any give occasion, we’d rather be together. So this is silly to us, to be apart for a no good reason at all.

So we must, we are compelled by the love of Christ, and we are compelled by His calling in our lives, to do all that we can the best that we can for the glory of God.

So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him.

1 Corinthians 5:9

Tyler, to practice and to play his guitar and be a good brother in Christ to the band, a man of God before the Lord, a husband and father in our home. Me, to wash the dishes and fold the laundry and be a good mommy to little loves, a good wife to Tyler, and a good minister of the gospel in whatever situation and with whomever I find myself.

It would be foolish – it would be crazy! – if we did not do with all of our might that He supplies all that we are called in Christ to do for the glory of God.

It may look like we hate our family in order to love Christ, and it may look like crazy and how do they do it, and I might just cry when he leaves and cry when he returns and in the middle pray pray pray for the glory of God to happily humble and wholly lead, walk beside, and come behind us …

so here we are, in the middle of it, declaring, all for the glory of God, go get ’em!

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.”

Luke 14:26
